What Makes Us Special?

In a world full of challenges, you want to make a difference. You’re looking for a place where you can develop your ideas—a university that will help you grow personally. Welcome to your studies at a unique institution—the University of St.Gallen!

The University of St.Gallen (HSG) is one of Europe’s leading business schools and holds top rankings at world level.

At HSG, you will be called upon to tackle practical professional issues with full dedication at the highest academic level in the fields of economics, law, social sciences, international relations, and computer science. Are you ready to take on responsibility? Are you open-minded and value the power of diversity? Are you curious and ready for new perspectives on the problems of our time?

The University of St.Gallen (HSG) is a vibrant place to study. Alongside German and, of course, Swiss German, you will hear a lot of English spoken on campus. Highly dedicated students from all over the world come together here. The HSG campus has a truly distinctive atmosphere and is located in a city that offers great quality of life – perfect for settling in quickly and embarking on stress-free study.

Four out of five Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates have at least one offer of employment by the time they graduate. A University of St.Gallen (HSG) qualification is recognised internationally as an indicator of high quality and, as a result, you are likely to receive multiple offers as you look to start your career. Alternatively, you may prefer to set up your own company – HSG graduates create a higher than average number of start-ups, most of them with international impact.

Rankings are an instant indicator of high quality and serve as an important guide – both for you and for us. We are delighted to have regularly topped the leading national and international business school rankings for so many years. Accreditations also attest to our consistently high quality, as evidenced by external audits, and add to the excellent reputation of the University of St.Gallen (HSG).

What to Expect on Campus

The University of St. Gallen (HSG) offers a unique campus experience that combines academic excellence with an inspiring atmosphere. Located on a hill above the city, the campus provides stunning views of St. Gallen and the surrounding mountains.

Students can expect modern lecture halls, a state-of-the-art library, and various study spaces that encourage both focused work and collaboration. The campus architecture, featuring works of renowned artists, creates a distinctive and cultural environment.

Beyond academics, HSG has a vibrant student life. More than 140 student associations and clubs provide opportunities to connect, pursue interests, and build lasting friendships. The sports facilities, cafeteria, and nearby nature make the campus a place where both mind and body are nurtured.

In short: the HSG campus is international, inspiring, and personal – a place where you not only study, but also grow as an individual and as part of a community.

Living in the City

St.Gallen offers its approximately 80,000 inhabitants a historically valuable old town. The narrow streets with many shops, cosy restaurants and bars at every corner create an atmosphere you can’t help falling in love with. The Abbey District, with the baroque cathedral and Abbey Library, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and thus of international significance. Further cultural highlights include performances at the City Theatre, the Concert Hall, the St.Gallen Festivals, as well as exhibitions in numerous museums. Particularly popular with students is the St.Gallen Open Air, a three-day music festival with bands and artists from around the world.
