Student Board Meeting Winter 2023

The CEMS Student Board held its third in-person meeting of the Academic year 2023 in London, United Kingdom. The meeting took place alongside the unforgettable Annual Events 2023 and the graduation ceremony, hosted by The London School of Business and Economics (LSE) between 6th December - 10th December. The series of meetings included brainstorming sessions across different Student Board teams along with engaging workshops from CEMS corporate partners, Alpha Sights, Sanofi, and Deloitte; a plenary session to share information about CEMS Annual Event and updates from CEMS Global Office.
SB Meeting London

Combining the CEMS Annual Events with the 3-day Student Board Meeting allowed the Function and Team Leads to discuss their ongoing projects with different stakeholders in the CEMS global community. The presence of the CEMS Global Office added on to the discussion through engaging sessions, full-board meetings, and single-team meetings which resulted in fruitful conclusions. The Alliance thanks LSE and Christine Côté, Academic Director; and Mac McAvoy, Program Manager for hosting the unforgettable Annual Events and the Student Board Meeting.

Excerpt of projects supported by the SB in 2024:

  • Preparation of the Diversity Calendar for 2024 to guide content creation on Instagram
  • Planning for future events such as CEMS Talks, exploring the possibility of a new event for APEC region schools
  • After the successful kick-off of CEMS Buddy program, we aim to help the less-established CEMS Clubs to learn and engage in shared events with more-established CEMS Clubs
  • Promote Alumni Mentorship platform to have a one-stop portal to get in touch with all alumni and students across the alliance
  • Development of a project management guideline, encompassing both small-scale tasks and larger project overviews
  • Explore new platforms other than WhatsApp for the “CEMSies on the Road” initiative for better project execution

In the in-person Student Board meeting hosted at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in London, 32 SBRs who were able to travel had the chance to connect in team-building sessions and social events with the CEMS Community, further strengthening the spirit of a true alliance.

Discussions revolved around alumni participation, best practices of communication across CEMS Clubs and the variability of international internships for APAC members within the CEMS community. As part of the CEMS Annual Events, the Student Board Executive Team attended the CEMS Management Council, the CEMS General Assembly, the CEMS Academic Committee Meeting and the CEMS Managers Meeting. This meeting served as a reminder of the great work that has been executed so far.

About the Student Board

The CEMS Student Board consists of elected representatives from each CEMS school. It serves a dual role by advocating for the students’ opinions, and managing projects on a global scale, while supporting the local CEMS Clubs.

The Student Board is organized in eight functional areas: Marketing & Communications, CEMS Club Support, Master’s in International Management Affairs, Corporate & Social Partners, Responsible Leadership, Alumni Relations, Global Integration Taskforce, Digital Innovation and Diversity & Inclusion. From 2024, the Board will be chaired by the newly elected Executive Team - President, Leonard Bußee (RSM), Vice President Operations, Márk Vad (CUB), and Vice President Finance, Joelle Soumi (NHH), who set up the Board’s strategy and structure, and supervises the respective teams.
