CEMS Student Board Meeting at HKUST in Hong Kong

The CEMS Student Board held its second meeting of the year 2018 at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 12th to 16th September. During the meeting, the Student Board worked together with the CEMS Global Office on future projects and collaborations. The Student Board meetings are a crucial moment of time when all team members can be at the same location to discuss and work together.

Hong Kong Meeting

One of the many workshops of this meeting was a session called “One topic per meeting”, which was devoted to the future of the CEMS curriculum and necessity of hard skills within CEMS program. The Student Board had the opportunity to give input on several aspects of the integration of hard skills to the curriculum. Other workshops of this meeting focused on the Student Board’s current projects (such as the CEMS SB Consulting Cup and the CEMS Start Up Challenge), future projects (such as the CEMS Women’s Network), best practice sharing and establishing a feedback culture within the board. The meeting was also very important to integrate 17 newly elected Student Board Representatives.

Beyond the focus of their initiatives, the Student Board gathering was also an opportunity to connect with local stakeholders including students, corporate partners, and alumni to help promote CEMS and further build its network. Between working sessions, students had the opportunity to visit Corporate Partner Hyundai at their local offices and engage in discussions with the respective Managers. Another highlight was a working session on best practices of recruitment with McKinsey.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for hosting The CEMS Student Board Meeting. Further gratitude goes to the local CEMS Office and in particular to HKUST Program Manager, Mandy Chi for their support in the organization of this meeting.

 Pieter Bosmans, President 2018

"It is absolutely fantastic to see what a group of 30 motivated Student Board Representatives can achieve over the course of one week. A Student Board Meeting really serves as the ultimate moment when everyone from all over the world comes together to work on our joint projects and initiatives. A lot of preparation comes upfront, but it all pays off when we can sit together in one room and discuss everything in person. I look forward to continuing to work together with this group until the end of the year, and hope we can continue to contribute to the whole CEMS community."

Nini Trinh, Vice President Operations 2018

"Coming from 30 schools with different backgrounds, the Student Board embodies diversity but we all share one thing in common: our love for CEMS. Every Student Board Meeting, I am amazed how passionate Student Board Representatives are to improve CEMS in different aspects. Especially during this meeting in Hong Kong, we have welcomed 17 newly elected Student Board Representatives, who brought in new perspective and fresh insights! In my role as VP Operations, I aim to empower each SB Rep to perform to his or her abilities. I cannot wait to see what these SB Reps will already achieve by the end of this year, during our the Student Board Meeting in Malta in December."
