Professor Dr. Marie-Thérèse Claes 

Marie-Thérèse Claes is professor at the Institute for Gender and Diversity in Organizations at the WU University of Economics and Business in Vienna Austria. She teaches on the CEMS programme and is part of the CEMS Global Leadership and Cross-Cultural Management Faculty Group.

Before that she was professor of International and Cross-cultural Management at Louvain School of Management (LSM, University of Louvain Belgium) and ICHEC Brussels Business School. In addition, she holds guest professorships at several other universities in Europe, Asia and the United States of America, was Dean of the Faculty of Business at the Asian University Thailand, and Director of the Executive MBA at LSM.

he is also consultant and coach for relocation, diversity management and global leadership. She has worked as a consultant to various companies and is a former President of the Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research (SIETAR Europa) and the European Women’s Management Development International Network (EWMD). She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a Fulbright and a Japan Foundation alumna.

Panelists:

Akanksha Batura Pai Head of Strategy and Growth, Sinoda Shipping Agency Pte Ltd.

Currently Head of Strategy and Growth at Sinoda Shipping Agency Pte Ltd, Akanksha is also serving as a Strategy Consultant to Raks International Pte Ltd and TransAsia Marine Services Pte Ltd. In all three of these positions she is spearheading the digitisation efforts of the respective companies.

Akanksha is also the Liaison Officer at The Hon. Consulate-General of the Republic of Malta, Singapore where she helped to host the first ever Singapore-Malta Business Forum in 2019.

Akanksha strongly believes in giving back to the community and encouraging young leaders. She has served as the Secretary of the Young Entrepreneurs Network (YEN) Committee at the Singapore Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. She is currently serving as the Vice-Chairman and Secretary of the Singapore Shipping Association’s (SSA) Young Executives Group (YEG) and is part of various other committees at SSA as well. She is an active member of the Circle of Digital Officers (CDO) of Maritime and Port Authority (MPA). Most recently, she had spoken on CNA 938 Live’s Singapore Stories hosted by radio personality Eugene Loh to share her experience being a young professional in the maritime industry.

Akanksha is the current 2020/2021 CEMS LC Singapore President and has been serving as the President since 2014. Akanksha graduated from the National University of Singapore Business School with BBA (Hons), Masters of Science (Management) and CEMS Masters in International Management (MIM) in 2014. She was also part of University Scholars Programme while she was at NUS.

Betina Szkudlarek, Associate Professor in Management, University of Sydney Business School

Betina Szkudlarek is an Associate Professor in Management at the University of Sydney Business School. Betina’s core research interests lie at the intersection of cross-cultural management, international HRM, and management of diversity. Her work has been published in top-tier international journals and featured in multiple national and international media outlets. She is the lead editor of the SAGE Handbook of Contemporary Cross-Cultural Management. Betina has worked with numerous multinational corporations and not-for-profits on developing intercultural competence and fostering global leadership excellence. Beyond her academic commitments, Betina holds the post of a Strategic Sustainability and Growth Consultant with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC).

 

Bianca Wong, Global Head of Rewards & Vice President, Regional Human Resources, Hilti Asia Limited

Bianca is currently carrying two roles in the Hilti Group. As Regional Head of Rewards for North Asia, she drives the region’s growth strategy and culture transformation, together with the leadership team, and leads the team responsible for full spectrum of HR agenda including talent pipeline development, leadership coaching, engagement and high performance, as well as nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment. Over the past three years, her achievement includes working with the business to drive sales productivity and brough innovation to the talent acquisition and employer branding practices. Since May 2019, Bianca has been the Global Head of Rewards in which she has already implemented a new set of global rewards principles, and rolled out global guidance on sales compensation plan design.

Prior to Hilti, Bianca was the Group HR and Corporate Communications Director at Jebsen, leading the related strategy and programs across all Business Units. Prior she was with FedEx in Asia Pacific in various roles from compensation & benefits to HRIS, with last position as Managing Director, HR Services for North Asia, based in Tokyo.

She holds a Master of Science degree from University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from University of Pennsylvania.
