Visa requirements
Citizens of most European and north American countries can enter Ireland to study without a visa.
If you are planning to study here and need an entry visa, you will find useful guidelines and details of requirements for study visa applications on the Irish Nationalisation and Immigration Service website.
You should allow a minimum of ten to 12 weeks for your application to be processed and early application is advisable. Only students who intend to enrol on full-time academic programmes can apply for a student visa. Student visas are not approved for part-time academic programmes.
Application process
Application forms for entry visas for Ireland can be downloaded here. You will need to present the following information with your visa application:
- Valid passport number
- Date of issue and expiry of passport
- Date, place and mode of arrival in Ireland
- Letter from UCD indicating you have been offered a place to study
- Evidence that fees have been paid
- Evidence of sufficient funds to cover living and other costs for the proposed stay
- Recent passport photographs
- Visa application fee
