CEMS Incoming Student Record Form

  •         Study Proposal
  •         Self-evaluation Sheet for Japanese Language Proficiency
  •         Official Transcript
  •         Certificate of Health
  •         2 photos (Glue one photo to your "CEMS Exchange Student Record Form" and clipthe other photo to the document.)
  •         2 sets of photocopies of the documents (1) - (5)
  •       Application for Certificate of Eligibility [for visa]

* This application is not required for Japanese nationals. Japanese nationals, including those with dual nationalities, must enter Japan as a Japanese national with a Japanese passport.
* If you have dual nationalities, choose 1 nationality (passport) and make sure you write the information on the chosen passport only, including the “Past entry into/depart from Japan” section.

  •         Certificate of Financial Support [for visa]

  * If the supporter of the expenses while in Japan is yourself, please submit the following document:
A certificate of deposit balance to declare the amount of your financial resources in order to cover the expected cost of your stay at Keio at least JPY 120,000 (or equivalent in local currency) per month for the expected period of stay (six months or eleven months). A copy of your monthly bank statement will not be accepted.
 
* If the supporter of the expenses while in Japan is your parents, please submit the following two documents.
   - A certificate of deposit balance to declare the amount of your supporter’s financial resources in order to cover the expected cost of your stay at Keio at least JPY 120,000 (or equivalent in local currency) per month for the expected period of stay (six months or eleven months). A copy of a monthly bank statement will not be accepted.
   - A statement (typed and signed) from the supporter to state that s/he will bear the expenses during your stay in Japan.

 Services and Facilities

Health insurance: 

Students staying in Japan for more than a year are required to purchase NHI. For exchange students, who will not stay for more than a year, are not required, but strongly recommended to purchase NHI.

With NHI, approximately 70% of your medical expenses will be covered (Most hospitals in Japan accept NHI). To receive the insurance benefit, you are required to pay a monthly premium.

To join NHI, you must complete the necessary procedures at the NHI counter at your local city/ward office (in Japan). You will need to bring your Alien Registartion Card, which you must obtain as soon as you arrive in Japan.

Visa: 

To apply for a “College Student” status visa:

  • Follow the instructions in the website as well as any additional instructions provided by the local Japanese embassy/consulate in your country.
  • Once you have received a “Certificate of Eligibility,” which will be sent to you by Keio, apply for a “College Student” status visa at the local Japanese embassy/consulate in your country.

Housing:

Internships support and national regulations: 

As a general rule, CEMS students are responsible for finding a company for  the international internship requirement (More than 10-consecutive weeks in a single company). If you wish to undertake an internship in Japan and if you are not Japanese passport holders, you will need to be keenly aware of the importance of meeting the Japanese government’s requirements regarding visas.
