Welcome to the CEMS MIM launch event !

May be you are in Prague, or in Barcelona, but you could be in Dublin, Rotterdam, Cologne or Warsaw and attend basically the same event !

October 22nd is a major event in the CEMS history. It is something like a second birth. The development of the new CEMS MIM programme was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of all member universities supported by the CEMS corporate partners, students and alumni. It was also made possible thanks to the trust built over the years between all partners. The first CEMS curriculum was designed already in 1989 and went through several reforms. But the CEMS community with its strong desire to be always at the leading edge, wanted to go further and created the new CEMS MIM programme which offers so many new opportunities and perspectives.

The CEMS DAY 2002 is placed under the auspices of Mrs Reding, the European Commissioner for Education and Culture. She will address the CEMS audience at the 17 universities and deliver a message of appraisal to the whole CEMS community. This official support by the highest European authority is extremely encouraging and shows that indeed CEMS is a pilot in its field which contributes to a higher quality European education. This actually coincides with the official recognition of CEMS as a best practice in "Joint Masters" programmes by the European academic community, namely the European University Association.

Today is definitely a time for celebration. I wish you a wonderful CEMS Day 2002 and my thoughts will be with you all !
