How was it?

The CEMS Cafe
The CEMS Launch Event 2002 at University of Cologne started at 14:oo with the CEMS Cafe: A meeting place for CEMS-students and the potentially interested students to have a cup of coffee together and to speak about the CEMS. More than 150 interested students took this opportunity to learn more about the CEMS network, the career services, EBF and CEMS publications in press and major magazines. Thanks to the local and guest CEMS students who actively participated in the CEMS Café, the newcomers enjoyed a first flavor of the CEMS spirit.

The official launch event began at 17 o'clock with guests from local authorities, embassies, cultural institutions, corporate partners, alumnis and students. It started with welcome speeches from the Dean of our faculty, Prof. Dr. W. Jagodzinski and the CEMS Chairman, Prof. Dr. W. Delfmann. Keynote speaker was F. Pleitgen, director of the Broadcasting-station WDR and vice-president of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), who held a wonderful speech about the role of Europe and of Managers play in our thinking. More than 150 participants attended the official launch speeches.

Anybody out there?

At 18:30 the Rector of the University of Cologne, Prof. Dr. T. Küpper invited for the Reception and Launch Party.

The highlight of the CEMS Launch Event 2002 was the video-conference which connected CEMS students from Bergen, Rotterdam, Barcelona and Cologne. All the guests could follow the videoconference on a screen and thus felt the enthusiasm and the common spirit of the CEMS network. A warm thankyou to our wonderful videoconference team!!!

And a student reported...

Cologne was great. I think there were about 100 guests, among others the two majors of the city. People from Ford, Henkel and P&G. The speech of the chief of a major German TV channel held was nice and the video conference with ESADE, NHH and Erasmus went well and was good fun. So overall it was really a success.
