Erasmus
Universiteit Rotterdam
How was
it?

A very "classy" CEMS DAY!
|
CEMS
Day 2002 at Erasmus Tuesday October 22, there it finally was!
Erasmus
University celebrated the launch in the Faculty Club, which is
located on the 17th floor of one of the university buildings.
Corporate
partners, CEMS alumni, (visiting) students and staff attended
the launch, which started at 17.00 h. with the official opening
by Paul Verhaegen, Dean of the Rotterdam School of Management.
|
|
His
welcome words were followed by the kick off clip presenting the
inauguration of the new programme by Mrs. Viviane Reding, EU Commissioner
for Education and Culture. Mrs. Viviane Reding assured the students
that they should feel lucky being selected for the CEMS MIM programme
as it offers many opportunities, which are so indispensable for
an international career.
The
keynote speaker at the Rotterdam launch was Mr. Didier Guillot,
Director Human Resource Management Nederland at LÓreal. His words
expressed the importance of academia and business working together
and the great advantage of having multicultural management teams
working together at L'Oreal.

His
words were confirmed by two CEMS Alumni, Ties Hartman, graduate
1992 and who is now working at Siemens AG in Munich and Dorothy
van der Laan, graduate 1998, and who has spent several years abroad
working for BP.
The
second part of the launch was spent on a CEMS European Buffet, which
consisted of dishes of all 17 CEMS countries. The buffet was accompanied
by a classical quartet playing festive music.
|
At
19.00 h. it was time for the most technical and therefore most
difficult part of the launch: The Cemsational Video Conference
with students from ESADE, Universität zu Koln and the Norwegian
School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen. Prior
to the launch, test sessions did not always work successfully,
but this evening the CEMS gods were with us and after a few minutes
the audience in Rotterdam was virtually present at the CEMS launch
in Barcelona, Cologne and Bergen.
To
celebrate the success of the CEMS launch in Rotterdam, Paul Verhaegen
concluded the event in Rotterdam with a champagne toast on the
future success of the CEMS MIM Programme.
