During the programme, students are exposed to interdisciplinary problems in an international context and are encouraged to adopt an analytical and critical attitude in lectures, discussions and project work.

Consolidation of Skills
Because the CEMS MIM Programme is integrated into the last year of their home programmes, students draw directly on a solid basis of management studies. The knowledge and analytical skills acquired at an excellent academic institution empower them to start the demanding CEMS experience.

27 Countries
800 students per year
57 Nationalities
27 Block Seminars
140 Business Projects
120 Skills Seminars

Week-long Block Seminars
The weeklong Block Seminars are organised by each of the CEMS Schools . They are academically and culturally intensive and the experience is the ideal starting point into the programme. Seminars are managed by interdisciplinary, inter-university teacher teams and provide the opportunity to debate and discuss innovative management topics from different cultural perspectives. Topics and teaching methods vary depending on the organising school and interfaculty team, and CEMS students are expected to acquire in-depth knowledge of their chosen topic in this very short period of time. There is also an important social aspect to the Block Seminars as this may be the first opportunity for incoming CEMS students to meet and exchange with their new classmates.

‘Our Block Seminar at the European Space Agency proved to be well above my expectations. I was impressed with the quality of the event and the commitment of both ESA and the CEMS Coordinators at RSM. The first insight into the programme made me realise how valuable the experience with CEMS will be. From now on; I shall be on the outlook for every opportunity the programme offers.”

Advanced Courses
Students must complete two semesters at two different CEMS schools. One of the school may be his/her home university. Each school applies the same curriculum structure to design its fall and spring terms. Students have the choice within a portfolio of courses in international management: international environment, international markets, international functions international industries. They attend at least one dedicated CEMS course per semester, on international strategic management or cross-cultural management.
“CEMS was one of the most challenging and exciting years of my life. I believe that the experience I gained from all aspects during the year was invaluable. Employers were very impressed with my CV and work experience.”
Sorcha Madigan,
CEMS MIM Graduate from Dublin
Semester abroad

Students spend one or two academic semester(s) abroad – either during the fall or spring term. They are integrated in a very international cohort of students, and are exposed both inside and outside the classroom to cross-cultural learning experiences. At each school, the CEMS Club comprising local students is organising an active social life to build the real CEMS network spirit.

« I spent the first 10 weeks working in a French insurance company in Germany. The rest of my stay was spent studying at the University of Cologne. I also completed my business project in a multicultural team, an excellent, formative foretaste of what awaits us in the multinationals where we are going to work. The CEMS MIM, a first-class experience, is of both academic and professional interest. But, it would not be so extraordinary without the interpersonal aspect. Living with a Dutch roommate, working in a team with a Czech and a Hungarian, having a German buddy, partying with Irish, Polish, British, Swedish and Italian people - I have met so many European students that my network now cover all CEMS countries: that's CEMS!

Internships abroad

Internships provide students with a real life professional learning experience by integrating them into an organisation’s culture and processes outside of their home countries. The main objective is to turn academic experience and theoretical knowledge into a professional, multi-cultural experience. Internships can take place at a CEMS Corporate Partner, though not compulsory.

Language Skills
The CEMS MIM Programme is designed to give future international managers the skills they need to succeed in global markets. Speaking the relevant foreign language is essential if managers are to work effectively abroad. The CEMS MIM is thus rigorous in its testing of language abilities, ensuring the students' ability to live and work in different cultures. In a business context, this means that CEMS graduates must be able to perform certain important tasks at a professional level. CEMS graduates are expected to be able to interact in two foreign languages at very high level. A second term abroad during the MIM programme is accepted as a substitute for the second foreign language.

Business Projects

Within the CEMS Curriculum, Business Projects are designed as a real life learning experience for students. International student teams, comparable to mini-consultancy teams, solve a real-life business problem supervised by both a corporate and academic coach. The CEMS Business Project is expected to represent 50% of each student's workload during the Spring Semester. Student teams present the results in a final report and an oral presentation to an academic and corporate audience They reinforce the CEMS partnership between universities and companies in jointly shaping the students’ learning process in international management.

Skills Seminars
Skill Seminars are training seminars in practical skills. They are essential to kick-start an effective professional career and fundamental to adjusting easily to an international management environment.

Small groups of 10–15 students ensure the interactive dimension of these seminars. Skill Seminars are offered by the CEMS universities, very often in close cooperation with Corporate Partners
