Doctoral students from CEMS Schools are encouraged
to participate in one of the doctoral
workshops jointly organised by CEMS schools and CEMS
Faculty Groups.
Students are also encouraged
to spend a term at another CEMS school. They are entitled
to take doctoral courses or carry out research work together
with their colleagues at the host institution.
The student mobility at doctoral
level among the CEMS schools is based on bilateral Erasmus
agreements. Doctoral student mobility is much more demanding
in content than the normal selection for student exchanges
at masters level. Therefore students are to actively explore
suitable fields and researchers at the host institution they
are considering before applying. Moreover, to make a doctoral
level exchange successful, doctoral students are encouraged
to establish contact with the specific teaching department
and an eventual academic advisor.
Once the student has found
an academic advisor for his/her exchange period, the international
office/departmental coordinator of the host institution will
be happy to assist with the practicalities of their exchange
(housing, student services etc.)
At doctoral level the exchange
period requires commitment by the host institution in terms
of:
- nomination of an academic advisor for the exchange student
- availability of working space/office for the exchange student
- organisation of housing
- access to research teams and local research seminars
