Academic Information
Make sure to bring with you the original copies of the following documents when you come to Beijing:
- Admission Notice and Visa Application Form issued by Tsinghua University
- Passport (passport type must be ordinary) and the copy of passport & visa. (Students of HK / Macao / Taiwan should offer valid entry permit).
- 8 full-face color photos without hat (30mm X 40mm, the background should be white or blue)
- Flight ticket
- Certificate of your international insurance. If you already have an international insurance, please bring a certificate of it when you come to Beijing. If you do not have such kind insurance, you can join in the group insurance when you register at Tsinghua University. The insurance fee for half year is RMB 400.00. Please pay attention that incoming students with Chinese passport can’t join this group insurance.
Register at the Foreign Student Affairs Office (FSAO) of Tsinghua University which is located at Room 112, Zijing Dormitories Building 22, Tsinghua University (near the Northeast Gate of Tsinghua University). Please prepare your Chinese name for registration.
Documents needed for registration:
- Admission Notice & Visa Application Form for study in China (JW 202 Form)
- Passport (passport type must be ordinary) and the copy of passport & visa. (Students of HK/Macao/Taiwan should offer valid entry permit).
- 8 full-face color photos without hat (30mm X 40mm), the background should be white or blue).
- Students living off the campus should include a Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by the local police station.
- Pay the registration fee of RMB 300.00.
Submit the certificate of international insurance.
The course information and description will be sent to the MiM Project Manager of your school as well as CEMS official website. If you need to know detailinformation of courses, please feel free to contact us.
CEMS MIM students need to finish the course registration online afterthey arrive at Tsinghua SEM. The login information will be issued by theForeign Student Affairs Office of Tsinghua University at the officialRegistration Day. The course drop period is in the middle of each semester. TheAcademic Affairs Office of Tsinghua SEM will inform studentsbefore the course drop starts.
All the courses will be taught in English.
As for CEMS MIM students, the minimumcredit requirement for Strategy and other courses is 30 ETCS. Apart from this,there will be and a mandatory blockseminar of 3 ETCS and a two-day Business Communication seminar. Another two-dayskill seminar is optional for student and students who want to attend should sign up for it on the first day of the block seminar. If there is any special academicrequirement of home universities, we will need to be officially informed by our partner schools.
Exams are usually held in examination period. Please pay attention that the lecturers can schedule the exams in the final class. Please follow the lecturers’ instruction. Incoming exchange students have to sit in the exam. Early leave before all the exams finished is strictly NOT allowed.
Tsinghua University uses 100-point grading system for final grades. Grades above 60 will be considered “Pass”. Grades depend on students’ performance on examinations, projects, in class presentations and class participation. Students are required to sign up on Attendee List for registered courses and absence from one-third classes will disqualify thestudents for the final exam.

The Foreign Student Affairs Office of Tsinghua University prepares international student dorms for every incoming international student. Incoming students can apply the international student dorm online before coming. The log in information will be sent to students individually after been admitted by Tsinghua University.

Please pay attention that Tsinghua SEM does not offer service in finding off-campus apartments for incoming exchange students.

Tsinghua University boasts top-class library in China. Tsinghua SEM also has its own library and mainly focuses on Economics and Management. Every exchange student can borrow books by applying for a temporary library card. Students have to pay 1,000 RMB as deposit and administrative fee for 10 RMB per month.
The Career Development Center (CDC) is a functional office of our school. Incoming students can find some open recruiting information on the website of CDC (http://www.sem.tsinghua.edu.cn/portalweb/appmanager/portal/CDCen). Please pay attention that the CDC does not provide personal career services to incoming students.

At Tsinghua SEM, student organizations are in integral part of the education experience. Each year students who join student association have an opportunity to play a leadership role, develop new skills, and take on challenges within a supportive environment. There are two formal student associations in our school. The Student Union is the formal one for undergraduate student. The MBA Student Association is the formal one for MBA student. The mission of student associations is to strengthen the communication between our domestic students and other international students. It also serves a communicative link among students, faculty, the school and various enterprises.
Student Clubs: The clubs at Tsinghua SEM are as varied and diverse as its students. They range from social and professional to recreational and cultural. If you cannot find an organization that meets your current interests, you have the ability to form and officially register your own clubs. Student clubs are constantly emerging as students and interests change; typically there are over 20 active clubs each year at Tsinghua SEM.
